CHAG Mission & Goals
Our Mission
To address current health issues and concerns of the African-American citizens of Detroit; to provide compassionate and nonjudgmental services through culturally appropriate and ethnically sensitive programs; and to develop effective ways of promoting and implementing positive health strategies to influence the overall quality of life of the African-American community.
Our Goals
- Reducing HIV Transmission in substance using African American communities by going to them with information, education, HIV counseling and testing, condoms, clean needles and access to drug treatment
- Reaching the high-risk community through culturally appropriate and ethnically sensitive means, using interventions that have proven to be effective with poor, inner-city, substance-using African American men and women
- Improving health and human service access for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH), improving medical compliance, and reducing social isolation
- Providing evidence-based prevention strategies, mental health programming and substance abuse treatment, to ensure optimal effectiveness
